The focus of this paper will be limited to an analysis of the nineteenth century philosopher Arthur Schopenhauer's argument for panpsychism in comparison with contemporary philosopher David Chalmers' version of the doctrine. Panpsychism is a meta-theory which holds that every thing in the universe internally possesses a mind or a mind-like property.1 Many interpretations of panpsychism have been put forth by philosophers according to what they considered a mind was, and what they meant by everything. Please feel free to comment/contribute your thoughts/opinions! A recent discussion with friends regarding this article has reminded me of one of my philosophy papers I wrote in undergrad.
